The director, in a recent interview, also lauded Vijay’s commitment in finishing the project as early as possible. It may be mentioned here that the Ilayathalapathy will move over to Gautham Menon’s Yohan Adhyayam Ondru soon after completing Thuppaki.

VIJAY AND VIKRAM'S FILM IN TROUBLE?

Vijay's maiden production venture, a remake of his father's famous film Sattam Oru Iruttarai directed by Sneha and with Vikram Prabhu, Karthika and Piaa in the lead has run into troubled waters. Apparently, Vikram had some trouble finding dates for the film, since he still has some work left on his debut film, Kumki directed by Prabhu Solomon.

The team was shooting in Pondicherry when Vikram explained the situation to them and requested that they resume filming in October after Kumki's release or find someone else to do the lead. So shooting on this remake has stalled temporarily and it remains to be seen what the makers will decide.

VIJAY TO PLAY A SRI LANKAN TAMIL

Sources say that Vijay will play a Sri Lankan Tamil in the film to be directed by Santosh Sivan. Incidentally, Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer for Thuppaki and had narrated the story to Vijay on the sets of this film.
Sources say that Santosh has the story set in the final war that was waged between the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE and his story begins with three Eelam supporters escaping to seek vengeance.
Vijay is touted to play an important role in this film as he is a staunch supporter of the Sri Lankan Tamils.
