ILAYADHALAPATHI AS RAJINIKANTH AND KAMALHAASAN IN 'NANBAN'

There is a scene in 'Nanban', the Shankar-directed Tamil remake of Bollywood blockbuster '3 Idiots', which would make the lovers of Tamil cinema to jump with joy. And we have interesting details about it.
"In a song sequence, Vijay would appear in the get-ups made by top stars of Kollywood, and this includes Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. This is a joint effort by Shankar and Vijay to pay tributes to the veterans," say sources in the know.
"Vijay will appear in the 'Enthiran' robot get-up of Rajini and 'Indian' looks of Kamal. This will be the highlight of the song, in which the Ilayathalapathy will be seen in other interesting get-ups too," the sources further say.
Remember Shankar, who directed 'Sivaji The Boss' with Rajinikanth, made the Superstar imitate MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal Haasan in the lead scene to the 'Adhiradikaran...' song. It looks like he is now planning something similar with Vijay.

'NANBAN' AUDIO FROM THIS DECEMBER!

Shankar's forthcoming multi-starrer featuring Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth and Ileana will see an audio release this December and will have five songs like its original, '3 Idiots'. The music for 'Nanban' has been composed by Harris Jayaraj who is currently busy with his music tour, On The Edge.
The shooting has been wrapped as earlier reported and currently the dubbing work for the major portions has been completed as well.
The posters of 'Nanban' all confirm that the movie will see a Pongal 2012 release and the creative designs are unique by themselves, apt with the film's plot as the trio will be seen as college students and Sathyaraj as a taskmaster for a college head. '3 Idiots' by itself has been inspired from Chetan Bhagat's novel 'Five Point Someone'.
What's your feedback on these uber cool posters of 'Nanban' that has set in much hype?

VIJAY, A JAMES BOND IN 'YOHAN'

Gautham Vasudev Menon is doing four projects at a time - 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', which he is simultaneously making in three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), and the Hindi remake of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya', titled 'Ek Dhivana Dha'.
After completing these films, he will move on to 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', his first venture with Vijay. "Some rumour mills have it that Gautham is toying with the idea of coming out with a movie every two years in this series, like Yohan Adhyayam Irandu and Yohan Adhyayam Moondru but the director has remained tight-lipped about these.
"Vijay plays an international agent in this flick," Gautham says and adds: "Yohan Adhyayam Ondru will deal with one of the assignments he does in a foreign country. It will chronicle two months of the protagonist's life."
On what made him to join hands with the Ilayathalapathy, Gautham says, "We both wanted to work together for a long time, but things didn't take shape.  This time we were sure not to miss the opportunity and made an announcement on Yohan."

Mahesh Babu is riding high on the success of Dookudu which has broken the box office records and has been declared as a smash hit. With this film turning out to be a hit, there is a stiff competition to remake it in Tamil.
Dookudu’s hero Mahesh Babu is reported to prefer Vijay for this remake. The star apparently had spoken to Vijay and had pointed out that he would be more suitable for the Tamil version. Vijay is also said to be contemplating on this remake because his earlier remakes like Pokkiri and Ghilli were a hit.

"Velayudham focuses on important social issues besides being packaged with the signature style of mass masala elements intact which is usually associated with a Vijay film", says an inside source.
Aascar Ravi also clarified that 'Velayudham' will be releasing in as many as 40 theaters in the city ruling out the rumour that it is screened in less number of screens.

VELAYUDHAM IS VERY SPECIAL - VIJAY

AVM Studio- The mood is upbeat as the Velayudham team is shooting for a special programme to be aired on Jaya TV.

Flashing one of his trademark shy smiles, Vijay speaks to Sridevi Sreedhar in his first interview about Velayudham releasing for Diwali.

Velayudham is special to you?
Yes, it is very special and I accepted the film, as I liked the story very much and working with my director Raja was a pleasure. My last release Kaavalan was a pure love story and now Velayudham has shaped out well as a sensible mass commercial film.

Why do you say sensible commercial film?
As reported by a section of the media, I don’t play a superhero nor do I possess any super power. I play an ordinary man who has a reason to take the cudgels and fight the system. Director Raja has made the transformation of my character with realism and that according to me is the highlight. I shared excellent rapport with Raja and all credit goes to him.

Why don’t you promote your films aggressively?
I hate to speak or praise my film before the release. I want my fans and audiences to go to the theatre without much expectation and get entertained. I hate to blow my own trumpet saying that my film will satisfy you and blah blah.. I have been getting a lot of positive feedback of the trailer and audio. Now after release, I’m sure that the visual impact of songs will satisfy the audiences.

Tell us about the two heroines?
Hansika and Genelia were excellent co-stars. Hansika has terrific comedy timing and realising that, Raja utilised it to the maximum. Genelia has a very important role of a journalist who motivates and brings about a transformation in me.

Your next films are all with top directors like Shankar, Gautham Menon and Murugadoss. Was that a conscious decision?
(Smiles) If I tell you the truth, I have been contacted by the so-called big directors only now. I didn’t plan anything. It just happened. Remember that I am an actor I do roles that are given to me. My job is to give the people a ticket to their very personal Disney Land for three hours.

You chemistry with Santhanam..
Yes, Santhanam has this unique quality of bringing a smile on everybody’s face when he appears on screen. He need not even open his mouth to crack jokes and no wonder women and children love him. We had a great chemistry on the sets.

Which film will you be watching for Diwali?
I will be watching all the Diwali releases and I wish the 7aum Arivu and Velayudham team all the very best.

DREAM COME TRUE - ILAYADHALAPATHI DR.VIJAY

He might have made only a blinkand-miss appearance in Bangalore for the trailer release of his upcoming film Velayudham, opposite Genelia and Hansika, but Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay did manage to impress all his fans there. “It’s been a while since I last went to Bangalore and I’m glad to have met my fans there. The way I was received there was exactly the way I’m received in the theatres in Tamil Nadu. And I must say that right from my first film, I have received tremendous support from the audience there. It’s a great moment,” said the actor. Vijay is eagerly looking forward to the Deepavali release of his film. “It’s every actor’s dream to star in a superhero project and I got the opportunity with this one. The best part about this film is that it’s not only a complete commercial potboiler, but also has a very strong storyline. Everyone associated with the project has worked really hard. Vijay Antony has done a great job with the music and it will be a treat for the audience,” said Vijay.

VELAYUDHAM IS SPECIAL : ILAYADHALAPATHI DR.VIJAY

Tamil superstar Ilayathalapathy Dr.Vijay has termed his upcoming release "Velayudham" a special film of his career.

Addressing thousands of his fans Saturday at the city's Poornima Theatre, where two trailers of the film were screened, Vijay said:

"Velayudham is a special film for me. I have acted in many films which have been filled with commercial elements.

"You have liked my films for their quality in picturisation of songs and fights. But Velayudham is one film which is focused on a issue besides being packaged with lot of commercial elements."

"You have already given a thumbs up for the audio of the film. I hope you would like the film also," he said amid cheers.

Slated for a Diwali release, Velayutham is produced by Aaskar Ravichandran and directed by M. Raja. The film also stars Genelia D'Souza and Hansika.

Vijay was in the city to inaugurate a store of Jos Alukkas Jewellery, of which he is the brand ambassador.

"I have come here many times, including during the launch of Kannada film Jogayya, which was my friend Shivaraj Kumar's hundredth film. I am very fond of my fans in Karnataka," said Vijay.

Velayudham is being to contend with a big competitor in the form of Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One, the costliest film to be ever made in the country.

ILAYADHALAPATHI VIJAY : THE NEW RAJINIKANTH OF KOLLYWOOD

For people who didn’t know that celebrities are looked upon as demi-gods, the incident that took place on Dickenson Road yesterday is proof enough. The launch of a jewellery store saw Kollywood superstar Illayathalapathy Vijay visiting the city on Saturday morning. If you think that only stars like Amitabh Bachchan or Rajinikanth can witness such fan frenzy, this one seemed to have challenged them all!
Picture this: Fans hanging from the trees, buildings and almost everything else to catch a glimpse of the star; the entire road which had hosts of people trying to take pictures of him on their mobile phones; young lads calling out slogans and holding placards for the star; kids gleaming with joy when the star lifted his hand to wave to his fans — this is pretty much the scene in India when the local people gets to witness their favourite star.
With fans being overjoyed at one side, one could witness an action-packed scene going on the other side. With fans climbing on top of the cars and trying to fall on the superstar himself, the police force had a tough time handling fan frenzy. Impatient with their attempt, some police personnel used lathis to control the situation. With security guards banging the gates on the faces of the people, the injuries that people suffered definitely need a mention.
You have kids holding on to their mothers, crying to take a picture with him; along with chairs and boards falling down — the scene was quite pathetic, we must add. It was a tough task for mediapersons to enter the store. With security guards and the police questioning why we didn’t come at 7.30am, it came as a quite shocker for us.
With Vijay’s upcoming film Velayudham releasing this Diwali and his political ambitions being the hot topic, all this worked to his advantage. With this kind of chaos and confusion, it looks like the new superstar has arrived. However, all this fan fare is undoubtedly overwhelming and it’s surprising to witness such frenzy even at this era.

VELAYUDHAM IS NOT A REMAKE, SAYS DIRECTOR

'Velayudham', featuring actor Vijay in the lead, is not a remake of 'Azad' as it is perceived, claims its young director Raja.

This fun-filled mass entertainer will take on Redgiant Movies '7aum Arivu' at the box office this festive season.

Raja, known as the prince of remakes, asserted that 'Azad' is only an inspiration, Though he has bought the rights of the Telugu film, he has taken only the 'knot' and woven a screenplay that is completely new, he explains.

'Velayudham' is touted as the costliest Vijay film ever backed by the big banner Aascar Films.

Raja started to work on the screenplay a couple of years ago. He took eight months to give shape to the narration, which has to be revised over and over again as Vijay's image and stature has kept growing since 'Kavalan' which was the actor's last release.

Raja's brother Jayam Ravi has been the hero of all the Tamil films from their production house. 'Velayudham' is the only exception where Raja has roped in Vijay whom he describes as superhero.

In an interview, Raja says, 'I envisaged him as a veritable crowd-puller with enormous mass appeal and today he is such a personality in real life.'

'The canvas is vast and the production is on a mind-boggling scale. It will be a Lucullan feast for the young and the old alike,' he adds.
Genalia and Hansika are the female leads. Hansika plays a village girl and Genelia will be seen as a spirited mediaperson.

Santhanam heads a surprisingly large contingent of 30 comedians.

Tom Delmar, the stunt co-coordinator has handled an extremely dangerous train sequence on a bridge, which is 100 ft. above the ground level at Rayagada in Orissa.

Priyan is the cameraman and Vijay Antony is the music director.

In the words of Raja, 'Velayudham will be a sensible commercial film about a superhero who is real'.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA AGAIN WITH VIJAY

Priyanka Chopra was recently in chennai for the cricket match finals and shared her thoughts on Tamil films. She had agreed that she would like to work with Vijay again with whom she had earlier worked for Tamilan. Apart from that working with Rajini sir would be a honour and also she is a fan of Vijay.

Though she had been to chennai quite often she is still waiting for somebody to take her around the city as she would like to enjoy going around the city. So, who is the lucky guy to accompany Priyanka for her trip around chennai. We shall wait for the news.

HANSIKA AND GENELIA IN VELAYUDHAM

Hansika and Genelia have shared the screen with Vijay in the film Velayudham. Raja has directed this film. This film is being released on Deepavali day. There was news that there was clash between Hansika and Genelia.

It seems that both of them insisted Raja that their roles should have significance equivalently. Raja also in an interview had mentioned that both of them had ego problems.

When asked Hansika about this she said, "I am very happy that I had acted with Vijay in Velayudham. This film has created lots of expectations among the Tamil audience.
It was shocking for me when I heard the news that there were clashes between me and Genelia during the shooting. I could not believe that Raja himself has confirmed this. I don’t know what he had said. Genelia and I are good friends. There is no problem for me with her.

Simbhu approached me for the film Vettai Mannan. I liked the story. At this juncture I cannot reveal the character I am doing in this film. I am also pairing with Siddharth in a Telugu film also with Udhayanidhi Stalin in the Tamil film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi."

VELAYUDHAM CONVINCES THE OFFICIALS

Vijay's Velayudham has convinced the censor board officials and they have certified it with a clear U certificate. The film directed by Jayam Raja has Genelia and Hansika Motwani as the leading ladies and Saranya Mohan plays his sister.

The comedy is handled by Santhanam. Vijay's film is always for the mass and with a clear U it is all set to rock and convince one and all. Let us get ready with a Velayudham Diwali this 2011.

Serious Request To All Vijay Fans,
It is high time that we show our support to Thalapthy Vijay. If you were Vijay fans even just for one minute in your life time, please do support him in this time. Most websites, TV channels and rich politicians are against him. They want to demote his films. He made some mistakes before but not any more. So he needs our support in this difficult time.

All Vijay fans should do the following.

1. DO NOT watch 7am Arivu in Theaters. Don't even spend Rs.1 for that movie.
2. Do not allow any of your family members to go to that movie. Tell them it is you or 7am Arivu movie.
3. If your spouse is Surya's fan and want to see the movie, tell them to wait and watch online or DVD. Tell them you are serious about it.
4. All Makkal Itakkam Nanbargal should make sure that people should not comfortably come and watch 7am Arivu movie. People should stay away from that movie atleast for first three days.

This is a war against hundreds of millions of Vijay fans and one rich family who wants to diminish Vijay who had entertained us and our kids and our family so many years. I hope you understand seriously!!!!

PLEASE SPREAD THIS TO ALL VIJAY Fans

I HAVE A SOFT CORNER FOR VIJAY, SAYS PRIYANKA CHOPRA

In a span of few years, Priyanka Chopra, a former Miss World, shot to fame with blockbuster films and turned into a vivacious diva. Dressed in a simple white shirt and denims, she talks excitedly about her fondness for Chennai and the Kollywood industry!
For a Bollywood star, her connection with Kollywood and this city goes deeper than one would have thought. Talking about her connection with K-town and Chennai, she says, “My first movie was with Vijay and so definitely, I have a soft corner for him! The memories of my first film are evergreen. I’d love to act with him again, given a chance.”
She adds, “The Superstar is definitely a dream star to work with and I also like Suriya!”
The actress finds Kollywood extremely entertaining, thanks to the peppy dances and typical fight sequences. “I can never imagine dancing like some of the south Indian actors — they’re so good! I enjoy watching the fight sequences in Tamil films.”
Considering that she last acted in Tamizhan, which was also her debut film, what about future ventures in Tamil? “Language will never be a barrier in choosing a film. But the script must impress me,” she says.
“The first thing I did when I landed here was indulge in some yummy fish curry — I love the spicy south Indian curry and since my maami’s family stays in Chennai, every time I visit them here, I get to enjoy a homely feeling!”
The Don 2 star, who is known to be a fashion icon, reveals a secret here — ask her about her biggest indulgence and she asks, “Do you mean materialistic indulgence? Then I must say I hate shopping for myself. I am known as Santa Claus at home and amongst my close friends because I love buying stuff for others rather than for myself. I love it when others shop for me! It’s tedious going from one store to another just to select stuff for myself!”
Considering she’s a fan of the game and was in the city to watch the Champions League finals, ask her about her favourite cricketer and she quips, “I used to have a crush on Rahul Dravid for the longest time! I also think Gautam Gambhir is a great cricketer!”
News about her pop album has been doing the rounds for some time now and she confirms that she’s going to be working on the debut album soon. “I can’t reveal too much about it now. But I will be going to Los Angeles in four days to work on some of the tracks,” she signs off.

JAYAM RAJA ABOUT VELAYUDHAM

Velayutham has Santhanam handling the comedy department. But what is news now is that the film is going to be a complete laugh riot because there are 30 comedians in it with Santhanam leading the pack. The story would illustrate how an ordinary man becomes a "super hero".
Jayam Raja speaks about his heroines

Velayudham is gearing up for Diwali release. Directed by Jayam Raja, the movie has Vijay, Genelia and Hanshika playing key roles.

Having spoken enough about his camaraderie with Vijay, the filmmaker has opened up about his two heroines.
... ...
Says Raja,'Genelia and Hansika are the female leads. Despite two big releases Engeyum Kaadhal and Maapillai, Hansika hasn't quite made a mark in Tamil. Velayudham will change all that. She plays a village girl and should remind viewers of Khushboo in her heyday.'

'Genelia will be seen as a spirited journo. Her bubbly character will appeal to masses. She is a thorough professional'

VIJAY THE BOX OFFICE KING

This Diwali, the fireworks won’t be just on the streets. It’ll be at the box office as well, where Vijay’s Velayudham will take on Suriya’s 7aum Arivu. The actors seem to have come a really long way since Vasanth’s Nerukku Ner, Suriya’s Tamil debut that featured him and Vijay in lead roles. A decade ago, the two starred together in the Siddique-directed Friends and now, are treated as ‘equals’ at the box office by most industry pundits.
Interestingly, Udhayanidhi Stalin, the producer of Suriya’s film, has stated that he'd be watching the Vijay film FDFS and that he’s “a big fan of the Ilayathalapathy.” And, Suriya’s director A R Murugadoss is slated to work with Vijay in his next flick! We take a look at the how the actors have shaped up till now.

VIJAY

• The last film of Ilayadhalapathi Vijay's Kavalan was the boxoffice hit.Kavalan beat all the record. The 49th film was also a biggest hit of Sun pictures.(they tell in singam audio launch).

• The Ilayathalapathy seems to have realized the importance of opting for accomplished directors. Currently, he’s working with Shankar on Nanban and has films with Murugadoss and Gautham Menon on the cards. USP: Punch dialogues, appeal with the masses, dance and comic timing.

VIJAY (ONE MAN ARMY) vs RED GIANT + SUN NETWORK + KALAINGAR NETWORK + UDAYANIDI STALIN ON THIS DEEPAVALI

In this Diwali  Vijay vs Redgiant + Sunnetwork + Kalaingarnetwork .Vijay's Velayudham and Udayanidi's 7aum  arivu was releasing. All the medias on Udayanidi's hand .Only Vijay has their fans support. In last year this happend and Vijay's Kavalan to be a box office hit.The same thing will happend on this year.

These two films are the most awaited, this festive season. But sources from the industry say that if both the films had been released separately, they would have seen a better profit.

Since both the films are big-budget films, the distributors are in two minds, they’re discussing whether or not to release the film on the same day.

Producers want both the films to do well. Reportedly the aum arivu gang was asked to release their film after Vijay's. But 7aum arivu was in the making for a long time and the film cannot wait any longer to hit the screens.

Meanwhile, talks are on with the producers and distributors of Velayudham. The makers are planning to release the film just a week before Diwali. Trade-watchers observe, “It will be good for the box-office performance of both the films if they release on different dates.”

Films stars are revered as idols here in Tamil Nadu. To watch the two megastars’ films on the same day, will be a real treat for film buffs.

Let’s wait and watch if the much-awaited clash between Vijay and Suriya, does in fact take place!

JEYAM RAJA WANTS TO WAIT

Jeyam Raja is being peppered with questions about Velayudham, Vijay's next big release. The director has said that he wants to wait before making any official announcements as the film has to be cleared by the censors. VIJAY TO WORK WITH VIJAY?

That director Vijay would work with actor Vijay is a longtime buzz, which is likely to become a reality soon. If sources are to be believed, the Ilaya Thalapathi is keen to join hands with the 'Madrasapattinam' and 'Deivathirumagal' director, by sometime next year.
"By the first quarter of 2012, both Vijays would become free, as the actor would complete Yohan Adhyayam Ondru with Gautham Vasudev Menon and the director would finish off his yet-to-be-titled film with Vikram. They would start their project after that," sources say.
Remember circles close to Vijay said recently that his forthcoming films would be with established directors alone, as the actor wants to deliver handful of big hits in the next five years, before he would start focusing on politics in a full-fledged manner.
Apparently proving this, Vijay's next 'Velayudham' is directed by 'Jayam' Raja, 'Nanban' by Shankar and 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru' by Gautham Vasudev Menon. In contrary, in the last couple of years, two of his films ('Vettaikaran' and 'Sura') were with lesser known directors.

NANBAN TITBITS....

Koothu Pattarai has gifted many actors to Kollywood. Joining the list is Devi, who has been roped in from the acting school by director Shankar for 'Nanban'. Devi, who is now running a theatre organization called 'The Viruksha', is playing Jiiva's sister in the movie.
"It is the role of an elder daughter in a poor family. The whole family relies on younger son Jiiva, who is in his college, that he would study well, join a good job, and ensure that his sister marries a right person. A surprise awaits in the climax," say sources close to the unit.
With Vijay and Srikanth playing the other two lead roles, 'Nanban's is getting ready for a Pongal release. "Shankar is at present busy with the post production works of the movie. He would make the end product ready by the last week of December," sources add.

M.RAJA ABOUT VELAYUDHAM

Actually I take the story of Azaad but changed it to Tamil taste and latest trend. Better calling inspiration, We can't remake 100% a movie released in 2000 to 2011.
I wanted to make this movie like a festival, that's why I choose today's best Villans and best comedians from Kollywood. I'm sure all people will love it. There wont be any illogicals scenes. All are well executed!
... Annan Thangachi sentiment'la Thiruppachi'a vida 10 madangu, action'la Pokkiri'a vida 10 madangu... Aaga moththathiley Velayudham Vijay's Best.

UDHAYANIDHI AND ILAYADHALAPATHI DR.VIJAY AGAIN

Few months back, there was a sort of hostility prevailing between both Ilayathalapathy Vijay and producer Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies that left them in bitter terms. But it turned to be a big surprise and perhaps headlines as the personalities came together in friendship.

Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has tweeted saying that met actor Vijay after a long time. Guess who was responsible for the meeting? It’s none other than actress Hansika Motwani and Udhayanidhi has thanked her ardently.

It is worth mentioning that Hansika Motwani is sharing screen space with Vijay in ‘Velayudham’ and Udhayanidhi Stalin ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi’ that are scheduled to hit screens shortly.
