When asked if Vijay would do a cameo in the film, the director said, “I haven’t thought about it yet. Right now my aim is to finish Thuppakki. But, I did ask Vijay if he would do a cameo in my film, like he did for Prabhu Deva. He said he would be happy to do.”

VIJAY WILL BE THE NEXT 'STYLE KING'

It has always been Superstar Rajinikanth he is addressed as Style Mannan in tinsel town. Now, it looks like our Ilayathalapathy Vijay is going to be hailed as `Style King' by his fans after the release of his upcoming flick Thuppaki. Going by the first set of stills that are up and run ning on the net, Vijay has apparently under gone an image makeover for the film.

The movie is directed by Murugadoss, and Kajal, whose stars and Kajal, whose stars are shining in K'town, plays Vijay's love interest.
Every time the Velayudham star talks about Murugadoss and cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, he gets hyper.

“The duo works in perfect sync and at high speed. But there is no compromise on quality! It was a new experience for me,” Vijay
says. Insiders say that Santhosh has given Vijay a ‘new look’, and producer Thaanu, known for his grandeur, is blowing away money for getting those rich and stylish visuals. “The onscreen chemistry between Vijay and Kajal was rocking and it was a treat to watch Vijay perform his dance steps,” says a unit hand.

While Jayaram appears in a role with grey shades, Sathyan will be seen in a comic role. Harris Jayaraj composes the tracks.

VIJAY INJURED; OFF TO LONDON

Vijay met with a minor mishap during the shoot of Thuppakki and has hurt his knee. The shooting has been stalled following the incident. The actor is presently in London to undergo treatment. His part of shooting will resume once he returns.

The actor had also planned to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IIFM), but that is not likely to happen now. We pray for the actor’s speedy recovery.

THUPPAKKI AND VAALU FOR BILLA 2

Looks like the release of Billa 2 will also bring along other festivities in Kollywood. Other than the fact that the teaser trailer release of Vijay's Thuppakki and Simbhu's Vaalu are planned for the same day, it's also noteworthy that Vijay will be celebrating his 38th birthday on the same day.

One of the most anticipated movies in Tamil this year, Billa 2 is touted to be released on June 22nd all over. Directed by Chakri Toleti, Billa 2 stars Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah. Thuppakki is nearing completion whereas Vaalu is just went on floors.

VIJAY'S BIRTHDAY WALLPAPERS

35 PALLAVIS FOR VIJAY'S THUPPAKKI

Lyricist Madan Karky said that he had penned down 35 Pallavis for the second song in Thuppaki and finally one of them was chosen. Happy that lyrics are the top priority among the music directors, Madan wishes this trend continues for quality songs.

Harris Jayaraj is scoring the music for this Vijay starrer which is being directed by AR Murugadoss. The film’s director had said that 60 per cent of Thuppaki’s shooting is over.

The director, in a recent interview, also lauded Vijay’s commitment in finishing the project as early as possible. It may be mentioned here that the Ilayathalapathy will move over to Gautham Menon’s Yohan Adhyayam Ondru soon after completing Thuppaki.

VIJAY AND VIKRAM'S FILM IN TROUBLE?

Vijay's maiden production venture, a remake of his father's famous film Sattam Oru Iruttarai directed by Sneha and with Vikram Prabhu, Karthika and Piaa in the lead has run into troubled waters. Apparently, Vikram had some trouble finding dates for the film, since he still has some work left on his debut film, Kumki directed by Prabhu Solomon.

The team was shooting in Pondicherry when Vikram explained the situation to them and requested that they resume filming in October after Kumki's release or find someone else to do the lead. So shooting on this remake has stalled temporarily and it remains to be seen what the makers will decide.

VIJAY TO PLAY A SRI LANKAN TAMIL

Sources say that Vijay will play a Sri Lankan Tamil in the film to be directed by Santosh Sivan. Incidentally, Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer for Thuppaki and had narrated the story to Vijay on the sets of this film.
Sources say that Santosh has the story set in the final war that was waged between the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE and his story begins with three Eelam supporters escaping to seek vengeance.
Vijay is touted to play an important role in this film as he is a staunch supporter of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN VIJAY AND KAMAL HAASAN

AR Murugadoss, who boasts to have completed 60% of the shoot for Thuppakki starring Vijay, recently opened up about his lead actor. The director said that he was completely bowled over by the professionalism of Vijay. He revealed that he thought it would be very difficult to direct a commercial hero like Vijay and added that he couldn’t believe it when the actor got almost all the shots right in the first take. “To be frank, I did not expect this from Vijay”, said the director.

Murugadoss also praised the actor for his sharp sense of humour and rated him on par with Kamal Haasan, pointing out that both actors are brilliant in acting, singing and dancing.

'AR MURUGADOSS' ABOUT 'THUPPAKKI'

'THUPPAKKI' : BIGGER AND BETTER

Shooting for Vijay's next film 'Thuppakki', directed by A R Murugadoss is apace. The film has already created a lot of buzz with the actor donning the role of a cop.
Meanwhile, it is said that for the film, Murugadoss has opted for the best, be it actors (Vijay and Kajal Agarwal) or technicians.
Recent news suggests that cinematographer Santosh Sivan, who recently joined the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers, is not using the usual 35 MM camera to shoot the film but has gone in for the latest ARRI digital technology.
Meanwhile, the makers have underscored the fact that the film, will be a wonderful experience for movie-goers what with the latest and best technology being put into use.
The film is expected to release towards the end of the year.

VIJAY AND HANSIKA IN ANNAMALAI REMAKE?

The buzz around K-town is that Vijay will be stepping into Rajinikanth’s shoes for the remake of Annamalai, the superstar’s 1992 blockbuster.
Annamalai had Rajini in the role of a milkman with Khushboo as his love interest, and the pair’s on-screen chemistry was a hit back then.
Now, sources suggest that Vijay is keen on essaying Rajini’s role in the remake and the makers insist on Hansika for Khushboo’s.
They think the pretty young actress is the apt choice since she is already being referred to as ‘Chinna Khushboo’ by the audiences.
It may be recalled that the Vijay and Hansika sizzled in their recent hit Velayudham. However, when Vijay was contacted by this newspaper he denied the reports, saying, “I have not heard of any such thing!
They are baseless reports.” Hansika, who is shooting in the city for Settai, reacted in the same manner, “It’s news to me! Even I read the reports on some websites.”

THUPPAKKI GOES HI-TECH

The shoot for Thuppakki, starring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal is on full swing. AR Murugadoss is using everything that is only the best in the industry, starting from the lead actors to the technicians. The latest news is that the cce cinematographer Santosh Sivan, who recently joined the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers, is not using the usual 35 MM camera to shoot the film. It has been revealed that he is exploiting the latest ARRI digital technology that was introduced later last year. Even the Hollywood technicians, who are usually the first to introduce latest techs in the industry, have just started using this technology.

The makers have assured that the picture quality in this film will be something nobody has experienced yet. The film is expected to hit the screens during the last quarter of the year.

AKSHAY THINGS VIJAY IS 17

We all know how Vijay impressed everyone with his dancing skills in Rowdy Rathore. The person who was responsible for the act was Prabhu Deva, the director of the film and in a recent interview, he has revealed some interesting details about the same.

Initially, Prabhu Deva was a little apprehensive to ask Vijay about doing a dance, but when the director asked Vijay about it, his immediate response was ‘why not?’ In an hour’s time Vijay, who was in Mumbai for the shoot of Thuppakki, was at the sets of Rowdy Rathore. Prabhudeva said that initially Akshay couldn’t believe Vijay was going to dance with him. The Bollywood actor received Vijay with a warm hug. Akshay was so amazed to see the actor and asked Prabhu Deva, “What’s he, just 17”?

Prabhu Deva also said that he is not trying to provide a Bollywood launch pad for Vijay. He said, “No way. He doesn’t need someone to recommend. Bollywood will welcome him with its hands wide open.”

VIJAY DECLINES, VIKRAM TOO FOLLOWS

Vijay has backed off from Seeman’s Pagalavan, due to tight schedules. Seeman had also approached Vikram to do the lead role in the film. But the actor, who is presently busy with Thandavam has also declined the offer as he has enough in his kitty.
Seeman, who is now hunting for a top hero said, “The character would be suitable for Arya, Vishal, or Jiiva. However, Jiiva will be my first choice, as he would be perfect for the role. I hope everything goes well.”

THUPPAKKI LOADED THIRD SCHEDULE!

The latest update on upcoming movie of Vijay's THUPPAKI is that the third schedule has been already completed in Mumbai and the team is back in Chennai, canning some important shots in locales of Chennai.

The team would then take a break and would be moving to some beautiful and exotic foreign locations like Malaysia, Bangkok, and lots more to shoot 3 songs. The Mumbai schedule which got over, had some important action scenes that were shot and Murugadoss has ensured that the movie would have some highlighting and breathtaking fight scenes, which have been never shot in recent movies and earlier Vijay movies too. Almost all shot have been taken in real time using hidden cameras too.

There are just 3 more songs yet to be shot, and Vijay along with lead heroine Kajal would be shaking their legs for those tunes in their next schedule at some beautiful foreign locations. Santosh Sivan, the cinematographer is also excited the way, the movie has turned out to be and has ensured that it would be the most stylish movie ever in Vijay's career.

After this movie, Vijay would starting working with Gautam for YOHAN - ADHYAYAM ONDRU, which would Bourne series style and would have some sequels coming up in future. The musical score would be taken care by Oscar Winner AR Rahman and this combination has already created lots of waves and expectations as it would be completed shot in US.

After Yohan, Vijay would be teaming up with A.L.Vijay for a action movie, and G.V.Prakash would be scoring music for the same.

Thuppaki, is almost nearing completion with just 3 songs remaining to be shot. If things goes right, then the audio is expected to be released in June end or first week of July and the movie is planned to be released in August.

Keep watching the space for more updates on Thuppaki.

VIJAY AND AJITH TO WORK TOGETHER?

This is the big fat rumour that’s making its rounds in tinselville. The two hot stars of K’town — Ajith and Vijay, are coming together for the remake of the cult classic movie Ninaithale Inikkum that featured the two biggies Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth in the lead.
The flick was directed by K. Balachandar, the man who introduced the two iconic stars to the film industry. Jayapradha, the heroine of the movie, was critically acclaimed for her beauty and performance.
Reportedly, the man who is going to wield the megaphone is ace filmmaker Selvah, who introduced Ajith to Tamil withAmaravathi.
It is learnt that Selvah met Ajith recently, and in the course of their conversation, Thala expressed his desire to work in Selvah’s direction and wished it could be in the Ninaithale Inikkum remake.
Selvah has already tasted success with the Naan Avanillai (again directed by KB) remake, and is quite familiar with the nitty gritty.
The buzz is that while Ajith will play the role of Kamal, Selvah is making a lot of changes to Rajini’s character, which merelycomplimented Kamal’s in the original.
He aims to make it equally important to the main lead, and then approach Vijay to play it.
However, when Selvah was contacted by this newspaper, he was furious about miscreants who spread such false rumours.
“It is funny how people’s imaginations run wild — there’s not an iota of truth in it. First of all, it’s been a long time since I met Ajith.
So, it is an absolutely baseless rumor and there’s no such movie in the offing.” It may be recalled that last year, a gossip that spread like wildfire was about Thala and Ilayathalapathy coming together for the remake of the Bollywood blockbuster Sholay, which later fizzled out!

NEW BADDIE ON THE BLOCK

Gautam Kurup is a happy man these days. Having worked as a location and logistics consultant for more than two decades, Gautam, who was initially turned away by filmmakers, is now the arch villain in Vijay starrer Murugadoss’ Thuppaki.
His role in the festival circuit Hindi short film Murdering Innocence landed him his first break — Kandahar with Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal.
And his part in the production team of Nanban led to his role in Thuppaki. “I used to watch Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth perform when I was working for Nanban in Dehradun.
They were very professional. The next I knew was that I had been chosen for Thuppaki. It was like a dream come true,” he said. “Vijay was very supportive while Murugadoss and Santhosh Sivan were very encouraging.”

VIJAY TO JOIN KS RAVIKUMAR FOR AANDAVAN?

In 2009 there were buzzes that, Vijay seems to have requested director K.S. Ravikumar to direct a film as their previous film ‘Minsara Kanna’ didn’t witness good results although it was received well by the audiences.

If you remember, at the audio launch of Suriya's Aadhavan, Ilayathalapathy Vijay jestingly said that he was possibly the only actor who has not given a hit with director K.S. Ravikumar. Though Vijay said this jokingly, one could sense his anguish.

Minsara Kanna, the only movie which Vijay did with Ravikumar, turned out to be a non-starter at the box office. If Vijay was keen to set the record straight, Ravikumar also reflected his feelings. `Minimum Guarantee’ director K.S. Ravikumar blamed it on the script of Minsara Kanna, which, he revealed, was not complimentary to Vijay’s image. Ravikumar then assured Vijay that the two would work together in the near future and create a great hit.
So if this is the day for Vijay-KS Ravikumar combo, we will have Aandavan soon! Lets wait for the official confirmation!

WHY DOES GAUTHAM MENON CHOOSE VIJAY'S YOHAN?

Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru is the next film Gautham Menon is going to work on. The film will star Vijay in the lead character.
Yohan will be the name of the character Vijay is going to portray. But why Yohan? Why not something like Kandasamy or Velayudham that regional people can relate to? The ace director has a theory. Yohan is one of the most used names in the world. He believes that, with this title he will have a wider reach for his film. From what we understand, he is probably trying to take this film international. The film is expected to go on floor from May.

THUPPAKKI ON AUGUST 15

The latest buzz doing rounds in the industry is that Vijay starrer Thuppakki will hit the screens on 15 August.
Thuppaki is an action thriller set in Mumbai. It is directed by A R Murugadoss. The two come together for the first time. Kajal Agarwal in the lead. Major portion of the movie is already completed. Music is by Harris Jeyaraj.

SARATH KUMAR NOT DOING ANY ROLE IN THUPPAKKI

Earlier there were news spreading around kollywood that Sarath Kumar is going to act with Vijay in Thuppakki.
News as follows....
The president of South Indian Film Artistes Association, who is doing a crucial character in Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’, is said to be playing a meaty character in Vijay’s forthcoming film ‘Thupaki’, directed by A R Murugadoss. “There is an all-important character in Thupaki apart from the one Vijay is doing. When Sarath was approached for the role, he listened to the script and happily accepted the offer,” say sources.
But the latest we hear from the director's mouth is that
AR Murugadoss : Sarath Kumar isn't doing any role in Thuppaki movie!
The director said in his social network site.

The same source also reveals that the makers of Thuppakki, have decided to release the movie on Vijay's birthday this year, June 22.

Though this news has not yet been confirmed by official sources, it is sure to keep all of Vijay's fans, very excited.

VIJAY IS HOT IN TRADE

This is the big news floating around in Kollywood circles. After Vijay changed tracks and started teaming up with GenY directors, the Ilayathalapathy has become the toast of K’town and every filmmaker wants to work with him at least once in their career.
The latest to join the long list is Rajesh, who is basking in the success of his recent flick Oru Kal Oru Kannadi.
If tinsel town sources are to be believed, Rajesh will join hands with Vijay for a movie that will be produced by biggie Aascar Ravichandran.
The banner has already given a hit Velayudham with Vijay, and is all set to repeat the magic once again. A little birdie tells us that talks are on with the star for allocating possible dates early next year.
The actor is currently busy with Murugadoss’sThuppaki, which has already garnered lot of attention in the trade circles.
After he changed tracks and worked with Gen Y directors, the Ilayathalapathy has become the toast of K’town

VIJAY'S PUFF GETS PMK'S BULLET

What do superstar Rajinikanth and popular Tamil actor Vijay have in common? Both of them have had the PMK up in arms against them for smoking scenes in their films. As posters of Vijay's upcoming film 'Thuppakki' were plastered in some parts of Chennai showing him smoking, PMK - the party of former Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss - has shot off letters to the authorities condemning the violation of the ban on tobacco promotion. The protests have emanated from Pasumai Thayagam, the environmental wing of the Vanniyar-based PMK. A complaint has also been sent to the Chennai Police Commissioner.

Thuppakki, which means gun, with the tag line 'You don't shoot to kill but to stay alive' is slated for an Independence Day release and has Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead. Directed by AR Murugadoss of Ghajini fame, the music is being scored by Harris Jayaraj.

This isn't the first time the PMK has upped the ante against smoking scenes or posters. Many years ago, the screening of a Rajinikanth film 'Baba' had been disrupted by PMK workers because of smoking scenes. Later, a truce was called between the superstar and the PMK after he agreed to quit smoking in films in the public interest.

Just how the 'Illaya Thalapathi' or young commander Vijay, who has been silent on the protest so far, manages to cross this hurdle will be a climax even before the film is released!

VIJAY PLAYS A DEADLY 'LA DIRTY HARRY' TYPE COP!

It was smart packaging by AR Murgadoss and Vijay. They went for a conventional and traditional poster look for the film, which seems to have worked big time with the fans of the actor.
The Santosh Sivan shot poster told the essence of the film, with all the writing in the background- Mumbai, mobile network jammed in Mumbai, grisly, beheaded, hospital secrets, vandalism, body found dead etc.

In a freeze frame the story is clear that it is set in Mumbai and Vijay plays a deadly ‘la Dirty Harry’ type cop with a different look and smoking a Cuban cigar.

SOCIAL ACTIVIST FILES COMPLAINT ON 'THUPPAKKI'

V Selvakumar, a social activist from Chennai has filed a complaint on Ilayathalapathy Vijay's forthcoming 'Thupaki', thanks to the posters featuring the star smoking a cigar.

"Recently Chennai was filled with wall posters from Thupaki, which were also used in print media. The posters have Vijay smoking a cigar. In spite of Ministry Of Health, Government of India banning any display of smoking, this poster was pasted everywhere and used as ads", says Selvakumar.
"In regard to the above mentioned violation of the Indian Tobacco Act, I have filed a complaint on 04th May 2012 with The Commissioner of Police, requesting to take necessary action against the violators", he further adds.
However this is not the first time a lead actor has posed with a cigar for a film poster, remember Ajith's 'Aasal' posters and Simbu's 'Vettai Mannan' posters? Only about two weeks back Shahrukh Khan was in news for smoking in public.

HARRIS JAYARAJ ABOUT THUPPAKKI

I am working with Vijay after Nanban and with Murugadoss, it is after Ghajini and 7aum arivu. Thuppaakki is a big and much awaited film. It is an action and commercial flick. Thuppaakki will be loved by Vijay fans, Murugadoss fans and music lovers. We have composed four songs and recorded two songs. The work will get over in 2 months.

When I composed a number, I felt it would be nice if Vijay renders his voice and when I told him, he felt I was kidding. Later I convinced him and the recording was done at Mumbai. It’s a club song and was shot in five pubs with the beautiful camera work of Santosh Sivan. All other songs have also come out well.

VIJAY FANS STARTED NEW WEBSITE

Our Vijay Fans Kollam District Comitte was started a new website for our fans.It will officially starting on this month. It was the official portal of Ilayadhalapathi Dr.Vijay Fans Kollam District Committe.A new blog for our world wide fans. Our official address was http://www.vijayfanskollamonline.com/

SPEECH WITH THE SPITFIRE: GAUTHAM VASUDEV MENON

Gautham Menon Speaks on Yohan
What about your film with Ilaiya Thalapathi Vijay?

It’s starting in June. It’s one of our biggest films, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Looking at the title, Yohan: Adhyaayam Ondru (Yohan: Episode One) – is it a part a series?

Yes, the film will have sequels. We’re going to set up a character that people will want to come back and watch, like a James Bond kind of thing.

Fair enough – but why Yohan?

Yohan’s a very popular Christian name. It’s another form of John, actually. In Christian circles, people will definitely know what it means. We wanted something unique.

There’s been a lot of talk that the film’s posters were inspired by a French film.

See, if you look at what people have done on the Net – they’ve actually taken our posters, and put it on shots of Will Smith and other French films. We haven’t done that. The official posters we came out with, the ones that appeared in the newspapers and magazine, are all original. The ones that appeared on the Net are what fans have pulled out and used on other images. They’re not what we’ve done. It’s not a remake or an inspired film. It’s original in every way.

VIJAY AN AN IDEAL EXAMPLE, FOLLOW HIM" - AR MURUGADOSS

Vijay is presently busy in the film ‘Thuppakki’, which is written and directed by Director A.R.Murugadoss. It is produced by S.Thanu under the banner V.Creations. This movie features Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal, Jayaram, Sathyan and many others. The music is by Harris Jayaraj.

Certain artists have some good habits in them. Some habits would be very good that, even others can or should follow in their life too. Similarly, A.R.Murugadoss has found a very good habit with Vijay.

A.R.Murugadoss said, “Vijay should be considered as a very good example”. On further explaining his point, he said that Vijay is very much dedicated to his career. His actions proves his dedication.

The second when Vijay enters the sets, he switches his mobiles in off condition. He does not switch them again, until his portions are shot or until, he is permitted to take break”.

This good habit from Vijay has impressed one an all.
