Gautam Kurup is a happy man these days. Having worked as a location and logistics consultant for more than two decades, Gautam, who was initially turned away by filmmakers, is now the arch villain in Vijay starrer Murugadoss’ Thuppaki.
His role in the festival circuit Hindi short film Murdering Innocence landed him his first break — Kandahar with Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal.
And his part in the production team of Nanban led to his role in Thuppaki. “I used to watch Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth perform when I was working for Nanban in Dehradun.
They were very professional. The next I knew was that I had been chosen for Thuppaki. It was like a dream come true,” he said. “Vijay was very supportive while Murugadoss and Santhosh Sivan were very encouraging.”
