There are reports coming in that Shankar has plans to direct a film adapted from the novel Ponniyin Selvan. Though Mani Ratnam tried to make this film several times before, it did not happen due to various reasons.Recently, Shankar had said that he is ready to make the film provided he gets a producer who would give him a free hand. Following this, Reliance Big Pictures have come forward to finance the project, say sources.
Sources also add that Vijay will play Vanthiyadevan and Vishal will appear as Raja Raja Cholan in this film.
